This course for sixth-grade students features studies in the New Testament that emphasizes choices and their consequences. Students will learn to apply these biblical lessons to their lives as they learn to be courageous within the framework of a character and leadership program. Middle School students should purchase their own Bible. ESV is suggested, but NASB is also acceptable.
English
English Language Arts encompasses critical reading and writing skills. Writing focuses on narrative, explanatory, and argumentative, which enable students to build skills in order to be successful in middle school and high school. Analytical thinking is encouraged and practiced through both independent and group literature studies, as well as targeted comprehension strategies.
Math
Math is required each year of middle school. Placement tests and teacher recommendations will be used to place students at appropriate levels.
In this course, you will connect ratio and rate to whole number multiplication and division, extend your understanding of number and operation to the system of rational numbers, use expressions and equations to solve problems, and develop an understanding of statistical thinking.
Science
Science 6 reveals the incredible intricacies of cells and organisms, matter and energy, astronomy, heredity, the nervous system, and the immune system through exciting, but manageable science experiments and science projects taught from a Christian worldview.
History
This course is an introduction to world civilizations from a biblical worldview. Students study the geography, culture, government, archaeology, religion, and history of ancient peoples from Mesopotamia through the Middle Ages.
Fine Arts
A Fine Art is required for all 6th grade students. Agritopia students may select from Orchestra or Music Appreciation. Greenfield and Val Vista students may select from Band or Music Appreciation.

This two-year course examines the foundations of the Christian faith by using a question-answer format, verse-by-verse inductive study methods, lecture and class discussion. This course will yield both an understanding of Christian beliefs as well as an improved ability for self-study in God’s Word. One-half of the curriculum will be taught each school year and will alternate every other year. Middle School students should purchase their own Bible. ESV is suggested, but NASB is also acceptable.

Students are encouraged to increase their critical thinking skills by developing and producing writing for a variety of tasks, purposes and audiences using argumentative, informational, and narrative writing types. Vocabulary and grammar skills are taught within literature units.
Honors English is available. Students in the honors program need a high level of responsibility and motivation to be successful and will be qualified based on the following criteria: Teacher recommendation of student’s maturity, work ethic, 6th grade English scores, MAP scores, and parent permission to take honors.

This Life Science lab course discusses such topics as taxonomy, cell function, and life cycles, genetics, biblical creationism vs. evolution, microbiology, plant biology, the animal kingdom, ecosystems, and human anatomy. All subjects are taught from a Christian Worldview.

This two-year course takes students through the unfolding history of the United States of America. The course begins with the discovery of the new world and traces the flow of American history up to the present day. There is a distinctive emphasis on our national core values of freedom, individualism, and equality. All content is rich in a Christian worldview and enables students to understand the historical roots and significance of the nation they live in.

P.E. Combination Locks
High School: It is highly recommended to purchase a combination lock for locker rooms. It is the students’ responsibility if items are lost.
7th & 8th Grade: Students are issued school purchased combination locks and asked only to use them for their assigned lockers. We do not allow students to use their personal locks on their P.E. lockers.

6th-12th Grade: Students should purchase their own Bible. ESV is suggested, but NASB is also perfectly acceptable.

Instrument Rentals:
