Agritopia 01.17.2025

FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Dear Agritopia Families,

This week, we kicked off a reading challenge for our elementary students, which has me reflecting on the ongoing challenge we face as parents: fostering our children’s spiritual growth with wisdom and care. I encourage you to approach all reading material with prayerful discernment, ensuring the books your children read support their faith and align with the truths of God’s Word.

Please be aware as you look at books with your kids, some books marketed to Christian audiences are authored by individuals who do not share our faith. One such example is The BRICK Bible, written by a transgender, self-proclaimed atheist. While it may seem like a creative way to engage with Scripture, the author’s worldview will influence the content and messaging in ways that are not aligned with biblical truth. Here are some of the things I find alarming:

The BRICK Bible for Kids Concerns:

  • The author portrays Yahweh as: Power-mad, belligerent, masochistic, petty, woefully insecure, extremely dangerous and unpredictable (and seemingly not too bright) Yahweh exhibits all the worst attributes of man.
  • The author has chosen and emphasized sections of the Bible that may not be suitable for children. While the Bible does not shy away from portraying the graphic realities of history, there is value in shielding young readers until they are mature enough to fully understand and process the consequences of sin’s depravity. Some examples of the illustrations and stories included in this children’s book are:
    • A naked Adam and Eve with their bottom parts together
    • Noah as he lay naked in his tent
    • Samuel “hacking” a king into pieces
    • Angry angels snatching terrified Lego women
    • A man thrusting a spear through a man and into a woman
    • Amnon and the rape of his sister
    • Graphic killing scenes with Lego blood and gore
    • One scene reads, “Anyone who would not seek Yahweh would be executed.” The scene includes men tied down ready to be beheaded.
  • The above information was sourced from What is Wrong with the Brick Bible where you can read the full review.

This is just one alarming example so please be vigilant as you bring books into your home. Let’s partner together to cultivate hearts and minds rooted in His truth.

Educating with eternity in mind,
