High School 08.23.2024

Principal’s Paragraph:

The future is bright at Gilbert Christian High School!  We are blessed beyond measure to be learning and leading at such a wonderful school.  Psalms 23:5-6 spoke to me today. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

In the very near future, we will implement the Yondr Bags to curb cell phone use during the instructional day.  At this point, our students have handled the new policy very well.  We are seeing increased engagement in class as well as during lunch and passing periods.  We feel the bags will ensure this continues.

We are excited for our fall sports season to begin.  Please support our student athletes and coaches by attending their games and cheering them on!

Chapel & small group will be held Wednesday, August 28th, from 9:40-11:34. Please avoid scheduling appointments during this time. This week, our Chapel time will focus on “God at Work.” Students & staff will hear testimonies from a GCHS student & a GCHS staff member. During small group time, 9th-11th grade will be discussing their identity in Christ and Seniors will focus on fears surrounding life after graduation. This will segway throughout the year into talking about real life issues our seniors will soon face (dating for marriage, finances, etc.). Reminder, you can watch all previous Chapels here.

These are the songs we will be singing on Wednesday!

Do you rest from your work?

SABBATH REST

Sabbath rest can be a powerful practice for enhancing your mental health. The Sabbath offers profound benefits for mental health, rooted in biblical wisdom. God commands in Exodus 20:8, “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy,” inviting us to rest from our labor.

Sabbath rest encourages you to step away from your routine, disconnect from work and digital distractions, and focus on connecting with the Lord. This dedicated time can reduce anxiety, improve emotional resilience, and offer a fresh perspective on life.

This intentional pause helps us detach from daily stresses and recharge. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus invites us to, “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” In the New Covenant, resting in Jesus fosters spiritual rejuvenation, reduces anxiety, and enhances our connection with God and others. It is an amazing reminder that Jesus said: “It is finished.” By dedicating time to rest and reflection, we nurture our mental well-being and find peace in God’s presence.
