FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Dear Greenfield Parents,
This week in chapel, we studied 1 Corinthians 15:3–5, where Paul reminds us of the heart of the Gospel: “that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day…and that He appeared.”
We called this the “Upside-Down Gospel” because the message of Jesus often feels backwards compared to the world’s way of thinking. Normally, death means defeat, but in God’s Kingdom, Jesus’ death brought life. Burial usually means the end, but for Jesus, the tomb became the beginning of hope. What looked like weakness on the cross was actually God’s greatest display of strength and love.
The children learned that following Jesus means living by these “upside-down” Kingdom values:
- The last will be first
- The weak are made strong
- Enemies are loved
- The humble are lifted up.
- The narrow path leads to life.
We encouraged students to think about what it looks like to live differently because of the Gospel, choosing kindness when it’s hard, forgiving when wronged, and remembering that Jesus’ resurrection gives us hope every single day. His example is who we want to follow, just as it says in 1 Corinthians 11:1, “Follow me as I follow Christ.”
We invite you to talk with your child about chapel this week. A good question to ask is: “What seems upside-down about Jesus’ story, and why is that good news for us?”
Thank you for continuing to partner with us in pointing your children to the truth of God’s Word.
Impacting the world for Christ,
