FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents,

Today was a truly special day at our school as we gathered together for a Veterans Day ceremony to honor the men and women who have served and are currently serving in our armed forces. It was moving to see the students respect and interest, and I believe the experience left a lasting impression on their hearts.

As you celebrate Veterans Day on Monday, I encourage you to continue the conversation at home, as it can be a meaningful opportunity to reinforce these lessons of faith, honor, and respect. Here are some guiding points and scriptures that may help you talk with your children about the importance of honoring our veterans:

  1. Gratitude for Sacrifice
Scripture tells us, “Greater love has no one than this: that someone lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13). Talk with your children about how veterans are willing to give of themselves, often in ways that require great courage and selflessness, to protect others and ensure peace. Ask them how we can show gratitude for these sacrifices in our daily lives.
  2. Praying for Our Veterans and Those in Service
Philippians 2:3-4 reminds us to “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.” We can reflect on how veterans exemplify this principle and take time as a family to pray for their health, strength, and well-being, as well as for current service members who continue to serve.
  3. Serving and Giving Back
Encourage your children to think of ways they can serve others in their own lives, inspired by the example of our veterans. Whether it’s helping a friend, serving in the community, or showing kindness to others, these acts of service are a way we can follow Christ’s command to love one another.

Today’s assembly was a wonderful way for our students to experience a piece of the deep respect we owe to our veterans, and I hope that these discussions will continue to enrich their understanding of what it means to serve and to love others in God’s name.

Thank you for partnering with us in raising up children who are compassionate, grateful, and respectful. May God bless you and your family as we remember and honor our veterans today.

Educating with eternity in mind,
