Agritopia 05.16.2025

FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Hi Agritopia Parents,

With the school year winding down next week and summer quickly approaching, students’ reading is on my mind. Research consistently shows that children who do not engage in reading over the summer can experience a decline in reading ability. This is often referred to as the “summer slide.” In fact, a recent study by the NWEA found that students in grades 3-5 can lose an average of 20% of their school-year reading gains over the summer months. Helping kids maintain strong reading habits during this time is critical to ensuring they return to school confident and ready to learn.

Mrs. Ehlers and I are both passionate about reading, and we’re excited to invite you to our second annual “Meet the Principals at the Library,” Monday, June 9th from 10am–12pm at the Southeast Regional Library. We’d love to spend time with your children as they browse for books, engage in conversations about their interests and help them discover stories they’ll love.

We hope to see you at the library and hear all about what your child is reading this summer!

Educating with eternity in mind,
