Upcoming Standardized Testing: Tuesday, April 22nd for 9th and 10th Graders

Students in Grade 9 will participate in the NWEA MAP Growth assessment during Periods 1-4. The MAP Growth includes three subtests (Language Usage, Mathematics, & Reading) and is administered using Chromebooks. There is no preparation necessary.

Also during Periods 1-4, students in Grade 10 will take the PreACT Secure® which includes subsections in English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. See the Preparing for PreACT Secure web page for a wealth of information to prepare for the test. PreACT Secure practice tests can  be found at TestNav by clicking on the “Practice Tests” link at the bottom of the sign-in screen.

SAFETY

Please drive cautiously when entering campus, especially by maintaining a safe speed. Due to ongoing construction, there are many blind spots, heavy machinery, and workers present. Slowing down will help prevent accidents and ensure everyone’s safety.

A NOTE FROM OUR ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT

This week in athletics, we celebrated senior athletes from beach volleyball and  tennis. It is bittersweet to begin our spring send-offs, but we are so proud of these young men and women and can’t wait to see how they impact the world for Christ as they graduate and continue to chase their dreams!

Next Wednesday, April 16th at 7:00am, our department will host a spring signing day in the gymnasium. Please join us as we recognize several of our student-athletes who have signed on to compete at the collegiate level. What an accomplishment!

None of our teams play at home this weekend, but softball is pretty close, competing at Benjamin Franklin tonight at 3:45pm.

Tomorrow, you can catch our incredible track and field program in action, as they travel to Valley Christian for the 2025 Al Nelson Invitational. The meet will run all day, starting at 8:00am.

For all things GCHS athletics, please visit our website gcsknights.com or check us out on Instagram @gcs_athletics.

ROOTED IN PRAYER

Parents, Grandparents, and all friends of GCHS are invited to join the team of volunteers that make up Rooted in Prayer every Wednesday morning when school is in session, starting at 8 AM. Praying aloud is not required and babies through preschool-aged children are welcome. Contact Mary for more information: [email protected]

College & Career

ASU Summer Programs are taking applications now. Future engineers should look into the NSTI program (a free 5 day camp in Tempe) and Fulton Summer Academy.  Summer camps are excellent resume builders and a great way for HS students to check out future majors.
