From our Principal
It is commonly known that “leaders are readers.” I credit my love for reading to both my mother, and the external motivation of a personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut back in the 90’s (if you know, you know). Because of my love for reading, and my desire to grow in wisdom as a Christian and leader, I constantly have a book in my hand or loaded on Audible.
Over the break I read “Habits of Grace – Enjoying Jesus through the Spiritual Disciplines” by David Mathis. This book covers practical tips, tricks, and proven ways to engage in spiritual disciplines and grow in relationship with Christ. It does a fantastic job of putting the cookies on the lower shelf, and inviting the believer to participate regardless of where they are in their walk with Christ. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to any Christian, but especially to teenagers. It will give them a solid foundation for living the Christian life. If you are looking for a book for your teenager, or maybe one to read together as a family, this is a good one!
Happy reading!

SAFETY

A NOTE FROM OUR ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT
All of our spring programs are in full swing, coming off of a busy week of competition! Congratulations to our boys and girls tennis teams for resounding wins at Coolidge on Tuesday afternoon. Baseball also had a strong week with a 7-2 regional victory over Payson, with sophomore Dane Coyle earning a AZ Central Player of the Week nomination after going 12-for-17 at the plate with two doubles, three triples and a homerun between March 26-30. Boys volleyball, for its part, put together a nice 3-1 win against Horizon Honors following a 16-kill, 9-dig performance from junior Malachi Myers.
Tonight, Myers and the Knights head to St. Paul John II for another boys volleyball match-up. The JV contest against the Lions will begin at 3:00pm, and first serve for varsity is slated for 4:00pm. JV baseball is also in action this weekend, traveling to San Tan Charter for a rare Saturday (4:00pm) game.
Be sure to check out gcsknights.com for a full schedule of events, recaps, rosters, and much more!

With many of you taking the national ACT test this week, we wanted to pass along this post that has a list of 175 ACT Vocabulary words to master. Happy Studying!
Check out this Phoenix Children’s Hospital opportunity for students 18 years and older (and going to college in the fall) for the CIV Program (College Intensive Volunteering). Great summer opportunity and resume builder for students going into healthcare related fields! Deadline is April 4th.
ASU Summer Programs are taking applications now. Future engineers should look into the NSTI program (a free 5 day camp in Tempe) and Fulton Summer Academy. Summer camps are excellent resume builders and a great way for HS students to check out future majors.
