From our Principal
Dear GCHS Parents,
Happy Valentines Day or “Happy Hallmark Holiday Created to Waste Money Day” (for you glass half empty people).😝Whichever way you land, my hope is that you will spend a few minutes today reflecting on the love of Christ, and what it truly means to be loved by the Creator and therefore love others as we are called to, no candy hearts required.
Last November, we examined the great love of our Father God by celebrating the sacrifice of His son during our Spiritual Emphasis Week Part 1 – The Cost & The Crown – The cost Jesus paid and the crown He received. This upcoming week, we will engage with Spiritual Emphasis Week Part 2 – The Cost & The Crown – The cost of discipleship & the crown His people will receive. We are excited to welcome back Costi Hinn & Aaron Shackelford on Wednesday and Thursday to share about the Cost & Crown, and will end our week with our male & female panel (originally planned in the fall) on Friday. Please join me in praying that God would use this to impact the lives of our students in a meaningful way.
As I reflect on the past 6 weeks, I am grateful for two things. Firstly, I am grateful God is a God we can depend on, and that he promises to give wisdom to those who seek it. I am seeking it! Secondly, I am grateful for this community, and specifically this partnership with you as parents. I believe wholeheartedly in what we do here at GCHS, and am thankful to have your support. It is an honor and a blessing.
For such a time as this,

SEMESTER FINALS
Senior final exams will be held May 7th-9th and for the rest of the students semester final exams will be held May 20th-22nd. Please plan trips, vacations, doctors appointments, etc. around these dates. Thanks!
SAFETY
Please be careful when driving onto campus, especially in regard to speed. Because of construction, there are lots of blind spots, heavy machinery, and workers on site. Reducing speed when driving through will help us to prevent any unnecessary accidents or issues.
A NOTE FROM OUR ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT
GCHS varsity cheer is currently in California at the Anaheim Convention Center competing at USA Spirit Nationals! The team secured their nationals spot with a first place victory at the USA Arizona Regionals in December. Today, they take the mat in the preliminary round, with finals set for tomorrow. This squad has been working so hard, and we are so proud of them and all that they bring to our school. Let’s go, Knights!
Winter sports play-offs began earlier this week at home, where our top-ranked boys soccer team defeated ALA-West Foothills 1-0 by way of a Caleb Barnett goal to advance to the state quarterfinal. The Knights are slated to host Palo Verde Magnet tomorrow at 2:00pm. All fans will need a ticket to attend AIA State Championship matches. Purchase your boys soccer ticket for Saturday here!
Fifth-seeded girls soccer put on a show of its own on Wednesday, besting No. 12 ALA-Ironwood 8-0 via mercy rule to secure its place in the quarterfinal round. Caprice Chiuchiolo scored four in the contest, crowning her as the record holder for goals scored in a single season (39). The next Knights’ match-up is scheduled for tomorrow on the road, at fourth-seeded ALA-West Foothills in Waddell (12:00pm). TICKETS HERE.
Boys basketball also moved on in its respective state tournament, with a resounding 78-56 victory over a scrappy Parker team. As the second seed, the Knights earned another home court advantage, and are set to host No. 10 Rancho Solano in the quarterfinal round tonight at 7:00pm. Bring your valentine! Tickets are required for entrance.
Last night, girls hoops hosted No. 20 Northwest Christian in a pool play showdown, with the winner advancing to the 2025 AIA 3A Girls Basketball State Championships. The Knights were victorious, defeating the Crusaders 48-26 behind a 23-point performance from senior Kaila Aston. No. 11 GCHS will play its first round contest at #6 Valley Christian on Monday, February 17th at 7:00pm. Tickets are required for admission.
The spring sports schedules have been added to gcsknights.com! Visit our official website for all things Knights’ athletics- recaps, rosters, and much more! Enjoy the long weekend and happy Valentine’s Day!
