High School 12.13.2024

Principal’s Paragraph

The new building is coming along very well!  As you see the structure rise out of the ground, it inspires us to turn our eyes to the Lord and remember His mighty works and lovingkindness.

That reminds us also of His precious gift of the Savior who came into the world to save us from the emptiness of eternity without Him whom we owe our allegiance and gratitude. As we celebrate His birth during this busy Christmas season, may we remember to humble ourselves like the great Redeemer who came into our world as a tiny infant because of His great love for humankind. May we be inspired to love like He did, and sacrificially love those around us who may be sick, hurting, and in great need. Luke 2:14 reads, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased.

On another note, we had a great official debut for the GCS Drumline at our Winter Sports Assembly! As we grow and continue to partner with you, the community will receive updates on how we are growing and sustaining our new programs!

GRATEFUL FOR YOUR GENEROSITY

There are not enough words to express our gratitude for how you have displayed your generosity this Christmas season.

  • On Wednesday, our staff had a wonderful time of fellowship, food, and fun at our Christmas Party. Thank you to those of you who donated items for the raffle. Our staff felt so loved!
  • Today, during our Christmas Chapel, we were able to bless the family in need whom we have been collecting funds and gifts for! Together as a GCHS, we provided them with $3,800 in funds/gift cards AND numerous presents for their family to unwrap on Christmas morning. Thank you for showing the love of Christ to this family through your donations and giving.

A NOTE FROM OUR ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT

“Super Athletics Tuesday” was an absolute success for our department, as five of our teams competed at home, and all five came away with widespread victories! JV boys’ basketball picked up the day’s first blowout win, followed by a 12-0 mercy-rule shutout from girls’ soccer, a 53-18 success from girls’ basketball, a 12-1 mercy-rule effort from boys’ soccer, and a 77-31 triumph for boys’ hoops.

Both of our varsity soccer squads were in action last night, and the girls’ basketball team played this morning in Payson!

Next week, we have just one team in play, as boys’ basketball heads to Saguaro High School on Thursday, for a 2:00 pm showdown against Olympia HS (WA).
