Principal’s Paragraph
The focus of my attention this quarter is student engagement. As we enter into a very busy portion of our school year, it is important that we ensure we continue to keep students engaged in our partnership! As a parent, I want my own children to experience the Word of God in all areas of their lives and be able to decide how to navigate this world we live in. We at GCHS are outlining how we increase student engagement as we grow and add programs. Part of that engagement piece will involve updating you on the plan for your student. We hope you enjoy hearing what your student is learning about and how you can be an integral part of the partnership as we prepare the next generation to impact the world for Christ!

Spiritual Life:
Spiritual Emphasis Week Part 1 – November 25th, 26th, & 27th
Our theme this year is “Cost & Crown.” During part one, students will learn about The Cost Jesus paid on the cross, and The Crown of righteousness he received. We are excited to welcome Costi Hinn and Aaron Shackelford from For the Gospel to bring the Word to students on Monday & Tuesday in a typical Chapel format, following our Assembly Bell Schedule (on Google Calendar). On Wednesday (the half day), students will have small group time, separate male and female Q&A panels, featuring strong Christian leaders in the community, as well as alumni who are serving the Lord. Vintage Worship will join us all week to lead the students to lead us in praise of our King. Students and staff are invited to Pay to Dress all three days of S.E.W. with proceeds going to a charity (E.F.A.- Empowering Future Athletes) run by our very own Senior, Owen Fermoyle! This is truly going to be an edifying time for your student as our speakers bring home the Gospel and help the student body understand The Cost and the Crown. You can purchase a Spiritual Emphasis Week shirt here. Shirts will be delivered after Christmas break.
Basket Donations – Collecting now!
Our Staff Christmas party is right around the corner and we are keeping up with the amazing tradition GCS parents started a few years ago…basket donation & raffles! If you would like to donate a gift basket/item to be raffled off at the staff Christmas party on December 11th, please bring your basket/item to the front desk by Friday, December 6th. Items can include anything from a gift card to a getaway!

A NOTE FROM OUR ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT
It is so hard to believe that our fall sports are over! We want to extend a huge congratulations to volleyball, football, cross country, and swim for amazing seasons. All four of our programs competed in their respective state tournaments this year!
Kyler Tolson had an excellent weekend at the 2024 Division III Swim Championships, earning a pair of medals and two podium spots for the Knights in the 200-IM, and in the 500-Free.
Our volleyball team defeated Show Low in the opening round of its tournament and advanced to the state quarterfinal on Saturday, where they were eliminated by a tough Seton Catholic squad. Our girls finished the season at 17-3 overall and earned a ton of recognition on the 2024 3A Metro Region Teams.
Andrew Rasmussen: 3A Coach of the Year
Sienna Cathey: 3A Metro Offensive Player of the Year
Alex Heyn: 3A Metro First Team
Kaila Aston, Lillie Duitsman, Sidney Loth: 3A Metro Second Team
Michelle Lopez, Shay Loth: 3A Metro Honorable Mention
Cross Country had an excellent state meet, where senior Addison Bisceglie crossed the finish line in second overall (out of 176) in the final meet of her high school XC career. Read more about both of our team’s performances HERE.
We want to extend a huge thank you to our fans who traveled nearly three hours each way to watch our football team in their first-round state game last Friday in Thatcher, AZ. The team had a great season and completed the year with a 6-5 record.
Finally, we have to give a shout-out to three GCHS athletes, who penned letters of intent for National Signing Day on Wednesday!
Caprice Chiuchiolo will continue her soccer career at Grand Canyon University.
Jace Olson has signed on to play basketball at Wheaton College.
Berlin Hall will be a collegiate gymnast at Southern Utah University.
Congratulations!
