Principal’s Paragraph

Dear Greenfield Families,

What a joy it is to see the students worshiping and honoring the Lord!  This week in chapel we continued our study of the Sermon on the Mount with the focus this week on Matthew 5:3, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”  Each chapel speaker shared in a tangible way the ultimate truth in the Bible.  Being “poor” in spirit means we are lacking something, and when added together “poor in spirit” means we are lacking something spiritually. It is a humbleness towards God admitting that we do not bring anything to the table when it comes to being good enough.

Here is a short weekend assignment for you created by, Miss Johnson (3rd grade teacher) to help our students and families grow more in biblical wisdom:

  • Read:  Matthew 5:3 & Romans 8: 12-17
  • Question: What does poor in spirit mean?
  • Discuss:
    • “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”  The blessing of being this way towards God is that we get to partake in His kingdom.
    • Elementary chapel challenge from Mrs. Peters (1st grade teacher): Find other verses in the Bible where Jesus’ statements seem radical and opposite to the world’s thinking.
  • Point out the key themes:

Live by the Spirit (in humility). Adopted. Children of God. Co-heirs with Christ. Suffer with Him.

Those that approach God in a humble way and recognize their sin will be blessed to be His children (adopted into His family) and get to be an heir to the kingdom of heaven with Christ!!

Our prayer is that you and your children will grow closer to the Lord as you study more of God’s word together. What better way to live out what we are learning than to help provide for those who are physically poor.  Our Food Drive is up and running!  Please review the grade level items and help our school bless others in need.

Impacting the world for Christ,

CALLING ALL STUDENT ENTREPRENEURS

Have you ever wanted to start your own business? Well this is your chance! Applications for the Startup Club’s fall session are now LIVE!

Startup Club is a fun, faith-based extracurricular program that teaches students how to start their very own business.  Over the course of 6 weeks, students will receive one email per week with a short and sweet video lesson and corresponding assignment.  Lessons and assignments are designed to break down everything they need to do to launch their business in small, manageable steps—and it all culminates with a one day Market where they will launch their very own business—and earn a profit!

With the exception of one in-person gathering on 11/6 and Market Day on Saturday, 12/7, this Club is largely virtual by design—making it easy for students to participate in other extracurricular activities simultaneously.  Students in grades 3-8 are invited to participate, and may team up with a friend or run their business solo.  Not sure what it’s all about? Check out this video to learn more!

Space is limited! If your child is interested in joining Startup Club and selling products at the Christmas Market, be sure to apply HERE by 9/29. Please note, applications will be accepted until spaces are filled. Once filled, a waiting list will be started.  Questions? We’d love to hear from you! Email us at [email protected]
