Principal’s Paragraph:
GCHS will soon be under construction for the new addition to our wonderful school. We have a tentatively scheduled date for the 1st phase of construction to begin on September 30, 2024. The numbered student parking will not be altered. We will have one week of navigating a restricted east drop-off zone, before we pray that the blessing of Fall Break will give us time to complete the first phase of our project. Here is a map for your reference. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.
1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 reads, We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.

Chapel Recap
Our Chapel fell on Patriot’s Day this year. Mrs. Garza and Mr. Potts spoke on the significance of September 11, 2001 and how the events of that tragic day changed the United States and the world. We prayed for the citizens and first responders who lost their lives that day as well as the military servicemen who defended our country in response. GCS will never forget 9/11/01.
Mr. Miller spoke at our chapel this week, addressing the students from 1 Peter 1.17 – 19, which challenges believers to “conduct [themselves] with fear throughout the time of their exile.” Mr. Miller’s message closed with the idea, “If Jesus’ blood was shed to save us, we can trust his wisdom to guide us.”

A NOTE FROM OUR ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT
Our fall teams have been busy this week! Volleyball played three matches in four days, versus Benjamin Franklin (RECAP), ALA-Ironwood and Seton Catholic Prep, and will resume play Monday at home against Sabino (FR-4pm, JV-5pm, V-6pm). Swim competed in a four-way meet in Florence, where the Knights continued to impress in the water! JV football was also in action last night, playing host to Kingman.
Some of our cross country athletes already ran this morning, at the Ojo Rojo Invite, and others are slated to race at Fountain Hills early Saturday morning.
Varsity football is away this evening, in Kingman, where the Knights look to break the Bulldogs’ three-game winning streak. Go Knights!
A big shout-out to KNIGHT NATION! You guys are the best.

PSAT/NMSQT – October 29, 2024 – All 11th Graders
Annually GCHS administers the PSAT/NMSQT to our students. There are two primary purposes for giving this nationally normed, standardized test. First, it gives our students experience with a standardized test that is aligned with college preparatory standards/expectations and provides students an opportunity to accurately gauge how they might perform on the SAT or the ACT. Juniors who score exceptionally high on the PSAT/NMSQT are eligible to be considered for National Merit Scholarships. Second, the PSAT/NMSQT provides valuable information for GCHS in terms of evaluating our curricular program, identifying areas of strength, and identifying areas for improvement.
More details will follow as the administration date approaches but there is nothing for students or parents to do to register. Just know that all 11th graders will sit for the Digital PSAT/NMSQT on October 29th, during periods 1-4. If a student is interested, the College Board offers guidance on how to prepare and practice resources on their SAT Suite of Assessments: Practice webpage.
