Principal’s Paragraph:

Hello GCHS Community,

We are excited to announce the formation of the Gilbert Christian High School Drumline!  We are looking to find a minimum of six students to be the foundational piece of this program.  We plan on inviting GCU’s Drumline to our campus to provide an example of what the program might resemble.  This will take some time to plan and we will need support from the community to purchase the equipment.  If you would be interested in helping this initiative, please see the attached website on https://enhancegcs.com/opportunities/drumline/. If your student is interested in participating, please have them reach out to myself or Band Director, Luke Griffin.

Z-Hour at the High School

Z-Hour is every school day from 2:30 – 3:15 p.m. except Tuesdays (with a few other announced exceptions throughout the year). It is a protected period following the last period of instruction (Period 7) for students to get tutoring or additional help, make up missed work, meet with a teacher, or connect with a staff mentor prior to the start of sports practices or club meetings. For students who elect to stay on campus for Z-Hour, they must be under the direct supervision of a staff member in a classroom or office.

A NOTE FROM OUR SPANISH CLUB

Hello Students & Families of Spanish Class and Beyond,

Spanish Club is headed back to Costa Rica during our first week of Spring Break 2025 if you would like to travel with us!  You can find all the information that you need at simplyventure.net/costarica.  But, I am happy to answer any questions you might have about this great trip!  (If you would like a student’s perspective, I will provide that for you as well.)

This note is sent EARLY because Simply Venture offers a payment plan. The first payment is due September 1, 2024.  A current passport is required to travel, but time is on our side at this point.  Once our team looks like it has formed, then we will have meetings at school.  We already have 6 signed up!

Also, Spanish is NOT required to travel.

Pura Vida,

Cathy Jorgensen (Catch me in room 106 at the High School or via email)
